Cornell University researchers demonstrate the world’s smallest walking microrobot—measuring 2–5 microns—held with precision tweezers. Developed by a Cornell research team led by Paul McEuen (College of Arts and Sciences) with co-author Itai Cohen, professor of physics at Cornell, along with collaborators from Cornell Engineering, LASSP, and the Cornell Nanoscale Science and Technology Facility, the diffractive microrobot uses magnetic actuation to interact with visible light, enabling super-resolution imaging and force measurements at the microscale for physics, engineering, and biomedical research.© Cornell University, 301 College Ave, Ithaca, NY 14853; 607-255-7675; photo@cornell.edu.
